History of Shopping Center ABC Serrano
ABC Serrano merges the modern style of its commercial area and the great beauty and tradition of more than a hundred years of history, with the splendid architectonic structure that surrounds it. The ABC Serrano Shopping Center is an architectural complex consisting of 3 building. The Serrano building, piece of López de Salaverry and built in 1899 for Blanco y Negro, has its facade on Serrano Street. In 1926 the expansion of the center reached Paseo de la Castellana, work of Aníbal González and signed by Anasagasti. In 1932 a third building called intermediate was built, running parallel to Paseo de la Castellana. This unique architectural composition housed the headquarters of the Spanish Newspapers, Blanco y Negro publishers and the ABC journal till 1989. From this date and by the prestigious hand of the architect Mariano Bayón Álvarez the comercial project starts, based on the creation of an interior street that would join Serrano Street with Paseo de la Castellana. As a result of this journey, the ABC Shopping Center opens, characterized by the fusion between modern and historical tradition, leading to a building of great uniqueness and relevance.
